History was made last night as the Darby Library Company held its 275th Board Meeting. The meetings have been held every year since 1743. There are currently opening on the Library Board. If interested please a letter of introduction to DaDirector@DelcoLibraries.org. Board Meetings are scheduled for the second Thursday of each month starting 7 pm.
Discussions at the 275th Meeting, focused on celebrating the oldest continuous operating public library in the United States. Plans include a reception at The Philadelphia Library Company located at 1314 Locust St Philadelphia on March 7 starting 6 pm. Activities consist of a welcome from John C. Van Horn, Director Emeritus, The Philadelphia Library Company, a special visit from the first Librarian, John Pearson, and displaying of original documents. A birthday party on March 10 will begin at noon with cake, story time, crafts, book give-a-way and a Puppet Show at 3 pm.
