Start Borrowing

Your Library Card opens the door to all the Library’s books, CDs, DVDs/videos, programs and services. It can be used at any Pennsylvania Public Library.

Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for all materials borrowed on your card and any changes (including fines and replacement costs) resulting from the late return, damage or loss of materials.

REMEMBER:
Your Library Card is important – let us know immediately if your card has been lost or stolen. There is a $3.00 fee for card replacement.

Please inform staff immediately if your address or phone number changes. DFL’s requires up-to-date client telephone information.

How to use your Library
You must present your Library Card for all Library transactions. These include: checking out of materials, pick-up and status of holds reservations, interlibrary loans and use of computers.

How many…
Some materials may have limits on the numbers of items that can be borrowed.

How long…
You many borrow materials from DFL according the following schedule.
Books, CDs and Audio Tapes: 3 weeks

  • Only one telephone renewal
  • Limit of 3 books on any one subject or author

Magazines: 3 week

Videotapes / DVDs: 3 days ($1.00 per title)

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Educational tapes are free rentals for 7 days

Placing Holds…
You may place a hold on material you wish to borrow that are not currently available. Once you place a hold, your name is put on a waiting list. You will be notified when the material becomes available for you.

Holds may be placed at any Delaware County System Library location or on-line using your library card barcode.

Return materials on time or renew your loans…
Most materials may be returned to any library location during open hours and through bookdrops after hours.

Avoid overdue fines and loss of borrowing privileges. Return Library materials on time. You can renew by phone as long as materials are not overdue, do not have a hold, or the renewal causes you to exceed your renewal limit. Call the Library to renew.

Uh Oh! Overdue!
Charges vary according to material type. Fines accumulate daily.

Books, Magazines, Audio Tapes abd CDs: $.20 per item per day for adults

Books, Magazines, Audio Tapes, and Cd: $.10 per item per day for children
Video / DVD: $1.00 per item per day
Lost Card: $3.00
Computer Disks: $1.00 each
Computer Prints: $.15 (b&w), $.25 (color) per page.

All fines must be fully paid to reinstate borrowing privileges or use computers.

Charges for damaged or lost materials apply to all materials and vary according to the value of the item.
